Longer and thicker insertion tube than a gastroscope.

Has a variable stiffness control.

Duodenoscopes (ERCP)

Inserted through the mouth.

Used to view the duodenum and access the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder ducts.

Used for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures.

Similar length to a gastroscope.

Has a side-viewing camera.

Has a forceps elevator mechanism.

Ultrasound Endoscopes (EUS)

Inserted through the mouth or anus.

Used to view soft tissues and anatomical structures inside or connected to the gastrointestinal tract.

Two types of ultrasound tips: Radial and Linear.

Has an ultrasound connector as well as a scope connector.

Linear ultrasound endoscope has a forceps elevator and side-viewing camera similar to the ERCP.
